•Adam Curtis 2004 “The Power of Nightmares”

The Power of Nightmares, subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear, is a BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis. The series, of which this video is an edit of the final chapter, was first broadcast in the United Kingdom in late 2004 and has subsequently been broadcast in multiple countries (except America of course) and shown in several film festivals, including the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. Adam Curtis himself has informally authorized distribution. The film chronicles the complementary rise of the NeoCons and the Muslim Brotherhood. It clearly shows that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organized force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a MYTH perpetrated by politicians in many countries -- and particularly American Neo-Conservatives. Adam Curtis is a British television documentary maker who has worked as a writer, producer, director and narrator. He currently works for the BBC. He is noted for making programs which express a clear (and sometimes controversial) opinion about their subject, and for narrating the programs himself. It has been said that if there has been a theme in Curtis's work, it has been to look at how different elites have tried to impose an ideology on their times, and the tragi-comic consequences of those attempts.
